New Office Space for Growing Workforce

Dontyne Systems continues to expand its customer base across the world and has secured contracts for development of customer specific software as well as for the Gear Production Suite program. This expansion necessitates a move to larger office space, Dontyne has secured an outstanding facility with views over the Quayside, an ideal environment to host Software Engineers, Transmission Designers, and Technical Sales personnel joining us in the coming weeks and months. The increased personnel will dramatically improve our development speed and support. The office also provides a suitable venue for customer specific training for groups of 4-8.

Cincinnati and USA Tour sets foundation for IMTS

David and I would like to thank our sales in US for looking after us during the tour earlier this month. Thanks to Rich and his family for hosting the barbecue on the Sunday. The food and the company was excellent, even if the weather wasn't. Thanks to Davey for running us everywhere by car. We certainly put in some miles criss-crossing several States beginning with the park in N. Kentucky overlooking Cincinnati itself as in the photo. A great view.

During the visit we were able to complete some product training and visits to establish the start of a large customer specific development project. We even had time for drinks with some friends out of working hours in Chicago at the end of the week. We built some good foundations with companies in the manufacturing sector we will certainly enhance during the IMTS September, Chicago, 8-14 September. See us at Booth N6778

British Gear Association AGM at Morgan Motor Company

Dontyne Systems attended the British Gear Association Annual General Meeting , this year hosted by Morgan Motor Company. The meeting was followed by a factory tour. Morgan has been producing cars on the same site since 1909 potentially making it the oldest continuously used site for motor car production in the World. The Chassis of the various models have remained fairly unchanged though there are a large range of custom options available for interior and exterior to customise the cars. Underneath they boast modern power plant and gear box from German suppliers. A recent return to the 3 wheel model production produced a surprise when, while expecting around 150 orders in total, the company found they had 200 orders before going into production a couple of years back and now 1,500 on order.

Release 5.0 Available!

Thank you for your interest in Dontyne Systems.

We have been busy since we our last significant release. We now have over 100 active installations in 15 countries with more than an additional 100 test installations with improved support based in Europe, USA and Japan. From the feedback we receive the biggest selling aspect is not the price (although our products are very competitive in the market) it is the ease of use and closer integration of design with manufacture. With access to points during manufacture for machine tools and inspection equipment our software can not only design, but optimise and problem solve providing a powerful platform for product development and driving production efficiency. Many companies state the Gear Production Suite alsoworks very well alongside the larger gearbox design packages already in house providing a fast track option for certain projects or project tasks requiring fast turn around. We will be happy to show you this in an on-line demonstration.

New developments for 5.0 include:

  • bevel gear rating
  • bearing design
  • shaper cutting
  • gearbox system deflection model linked to our load analysis
  • shaft analysis for frequency and critical speed
  • remote hosting system for access to the software anywhere in the world via secure internet connection

For more information on new developments view our brochure:

Download Gear Production Suite brochure (PDF)

We would like you to try the software for yourselves. We would be glad to send you a link to install a test version . With this it is possible to activate a test licence valid for 30 days.

If we don't hear from you, we would still like to keep you informed of new developments. The development scheduled for 6.0 next year includes several tools unique to Dontyne Systems. If you would like more information then please let me know.

Dontyne to Exhibit at IPTEX 14, Mumbai, India

Following the large response to our IPTEX 12 participation, we Dontyne Systems will be attending IPTEX 14 show in Mumbai, India, February 9-11 2014. This will be a good chance to build on the excellent show held by AGMA in Cincinnati where the overwhelming interest in our software was pleasing. The discussions were interesting and the contacts told us repeatedly how they were impressed that the software was simple to use and and affordable. It was especially effective in the area of manufacturing by helping to quickly analyse the effect of manufacturing on rating and operating characteristics. This would be equally applicable to gear production in India and so would like to invite interested parties to discuss your requirement at Booth B6. If you would like to discuss any issues in advance of the show please contact us using

VDI International Conference on Gears 2013, Garching, Germany. 7-9 October 2013

Dontyne Systems will be exhibiting at the VDI Conference 7-9 October. This is a highly respected event recognised worldwide and will be a good chance to show off our development since our last showing at this event in 2010. We have had significant improvement in the addition of bevel gear design and analysis. We have also added a system deflection model on demand from our customer base to complement the GATES LTCA. There is also the addition of the Convoloid® LTCA which has the potential to improve power density and life of cylindrical gear systems as well as reduction production costs. This will be a chance to reconnect with many of our existing customer base, and make many new contacts.

Dontyne establishes new North American support facility

Dontyne Systems has recently established a North American support facility. We would like to announce the opening of the Cincinnati Ohio based facility effective December 15th, 2012. The support office will be managed by Mr. Rich Easley and support the company’s business throughout North America. Continued growth of our installed customer base, combined with increasing product interest has made this expansion necessary. Rich has nearly 30 years’ experience in engineering design, project management and customer support. His team in the US will provide excellent support to Dontyne’s North American growth. The Dontyne North American office may be contacted by telephone at 513-679-0313 or email at

Dontyne to Develop Convoloid® LTCA with Genesis Partners

Dontyne Systems has entered into an agreement with Genesis Partners to develop software for the tooth contact analysis of their Convoloid® gear form. Convoloid is a conformal and conjugate gear tooth form exhibiting much lower contact stresses and improved bending strengths compared to its involute equivalent in size, centre distance and face width yet its manufacture is compatible with the world’s existing gear manufacturing infrastructure. The type of analysis available will be analogous to the involute helicoid analysis tools in the Gear Production Site. Genesis Partners have demonstrated in testing that this form of gearing has significant benefits over involute helicoid equivalent by direct testing in Wind Turbine gearboxes. There will be regions within the envelope of operation of any application where either involute helicoid or Convoloid would be a better selection. The new software will enable a cost effective analysis to identify optimum choice for testing. Just as with Dontyne’s involute helicoid equivalent there will be links to manufacturing and inspection for efficient production. The Convoloid type of analysis will be exclusive to Dontyne and will be available for testing in March.
